Pinto The Mini Dachshund

Once Bradley and I decided to move in together, we knew it would only be a matter of time before we’d add a dog to our lives. We’d both grown up with animals in our lives; Brad with Tibetan Terriers and I grew up on a farm with an abundance of the usual sheep, cows, pigs, hens and of course, dogs of all shapes and sizes. We hit a stumbling block almost immediately when our lease stated ‘NO PETS’.

I even felt guilty for owning a tank full of tropical fish! and I longed to have the companionship that only a dog can give, so I joined a website called Borrow My Doggy and to my delight, a chocolate mini dachshund lived a 5 minute walk along the road from me.

I got to know Cocoa really well throughout the time I borrowed her, and we referred to her as our little ‘borrowed bean’.

In July this year, we took the plunge and bought a house of our own and immediately started looking for a ‘bean’ of our own. It wasn’t long before I found a little of pups not far from us and we visited them at 6 weeks old.

We immediately fell in love with the orange collar puppy; and chose her to come home with us at 10 weeks. We decided that now that we had a ‘bean’ of our own, only the name Pinto would do, our very own Pinto Bean.

We love her more and more as each day passes and she recently got to meet Cocoa for a bean play date!
